Judith is a painter and mixed media artist from Needham, Massachusetts. She began painting relatively late in life on a whim. Though she began as an oil painter, Judith has recently been exploring gelli-plate and eco printing as well as collage. She is enjoying creating works using her own gelli printed papers along with photos, pressed flowers and leaves, handmade eco prints, and Japanese handmade papers. Her work has been inspired by many contemporary collage artists including Tara Axford, Sally Hirst, Donna Watson, and DT Colter. Their practice and teachings have introduced her to the mysteries, intricacies, and diversity of printing techniques and collage-making. Finding the right harmony and balance of colors, textures, and shapes is often challenging, but Judith loves the process of experimenting with the endless possibilities of combining paper and natural materials into an engaging composition.
